What not to do in your Croydon job interview

As well as preparing for what you should do when attending a job interview, whether it's a part time job in Croydon or that fantastic next step on the career ladder, it is just as critical that you know what not to do.

  • Don't be late!

  • Don't swear or use slang words

  • Don't slouch in your seat or do anything else that makes you look disinterested

  • Don't tell miss-truths! The interview panel may see through you. Even if you get the job, your employer can dismiss you if they find out.

  • Don't let your nerves show too much. It is normal to be nervous, but you can't let your nerves take over, as this will detract from the quality of your interview. Use breathing techniques and try to remember that it's not a life and death situation; there are lots of jobs on AllCroydonJobs!

  • Don't be arrogant and assume you've got the job. A real turn off for employers is someone who is disrespectful and over-confident.

  • Don't read from notes or your CV. You should be accustomed enough with your own history to be able to talk about it unprompted

  • Don't fall out with the interviewer, no matter what. Remember to keep things positive!
